Runners take on Chichester Half Marathon in support of Chichester Cathedral

A group of dedicated runners are raising funds for Chichester Cathedral at this year's Chichester Half Marathon 2026, organised by UK Running Events.

 The popular event is expected to attract more than 1,500 runners and will take in some of Chichester's most iconic landmarks, including the Cathedral itself, which is also one of the event's official charity beneficiaries.

 Team Cathedral are amateur runners who have been training specifically for this event, generously volunteering their time to raise funds and awareness. Every donation made through Team Cathedral supports the Cathedral's care of its historic building, music, education and community work, helping to ensure it remains a place of worship, welcome and wonder for future generations.

 It currently costs approximately £7,000.00 per day to maintain Chichester Cathedral. As an independent registered charity (No. 1205740), the Cathedral relies on the generosity of supporters, visitors and local communities and receives no regular funding from government or central Church sources.

 David Phizackerley, who is running as part of Team Cathedral, said: "Running is a real passion of mine, and over the last few years I have completed several half marathons, including five of the six international SuperHalfs. I am looking forward to tackling the challenge of the Chichester Half Marathon, with its climb to The Trundle. It's great that Chichester Cathedral is an official charity partner of the Chichester Half Marathon this year. I often attend Holy Communion at the Cathedral, so I'm particularly pleased to be running as part of Team Cathedral to help raise funds for the Cathedral and the important work it does within the community."
