St Wilfrids Hospice, Chichester, has announced today that it is a finalist at Smee & Fords Legacy Giving Awards 2026.

The Hospice, which provides expert, free-of-charge palliative and end-of-life care to people in the local community, has been shortlisted in the Legacy Campaign of the Year category for its recent Gifts in Wills marketing campaign.

Smee & Ford helps charities to understand and grow their legacy income. The Legacy Giving Awards celebrate the talent, dedication and achievements of UK legacy giving professionals — and highlight the vital impact gifts in Wills have on charities.

St Wilfrids Hospice has been running its gifts in Wills campaign over the last 12 months, with the aim of making local hospice care visible and relatable, as well as generating an important income; 1 in 4 of its patients are cared for as a result of gifts left in Wills.

Through out-of-home advertising (train stations, buses and bus stops), social media, local press, blogs and its 11 shops, they have looked to embed hospice care into everyday local life. The Hospice has also

offered tailored pathways, including invitations to financial wellbeing seminars, legacy events, Hospice tours, opportunities to speak directly with employees and solicitor support.

Bryan Robinson, Gifts in Wills Officer at St Wilfrids said, We are absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted for this award, which is testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone in the marketing and fundraising teams, but also our wonderful supporters and legators who have all played a part in our success.

We set out to redefine what a local hospice can achieve: a scalable, insight-driven and authentic legacy campaign that delivers vital income for St Wilfrids while honouring the community we serve. We are immensely appreciative of any gift left to the Hospice, large or small, and such local campaign activity is crucial in achieving this.

The Legacy Giving Awards will be held on 29th April 2026, and winners will be announced shortly afterwards.
