Chichester Harbour Conservancy

Chichester Harbour is a thriving recreational boating harbour, internationally recognised for its rare habitats and protected wildlife. Covering 28.2 square miles, it’s one of South East England’s most important natural estuaries.

The harbour supports a rich mixture of habitats, including open water, mudflats, seagrass meadows, saltmarshes, shingle banks, beaches, reedbeds, coastal grazing marsh, wooded fringes, grass paddocks and cultivated farmland. Together, these diverse areas create an environment of exceptional ecological value.

While the resident population is relatively small at around 8,700 people, more than half a million people live within 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) of the harbour. Each year, it attracts an estimated 1.8 million visitors who come to experience its natural beauty, wildlife and recreational opportunities.

Home to 14 sailing clubs and 63 miles of footpaths, including the King Charles III England Coast Path, Chichester Harbour offers a unique blend of environmental significance, maritime heritage and outdoor recreation.

Solar Heritage
Solar Heritage is a 14 metre solar-powered catamaran which can carry up to 50 passengers and is available for boat trips from Itchenor for much of the year and trips from Emsworth in the summer. It’s also available for private charter.
