Continuum is an exhibition which brings together the work of four women artists living in Sussex. Combining textiles, ceramic, jewellery and fine art, each artist explores linear forms and shape as an expression of identity, emotion and the passing of time.

The House at Hill Lane is an award-winning architect designed house, built as a space for artistic expression in addition to being a home. For many years it has been used for exhibitions, cooking and weaving workshops, writing retreats and wellness weekends.

Polly Meynell creates bespoke textile embroidered artworks for public and private spaces. She uses machine embroidery and applique to create artworks that invite questions. Her abstract work has enabled her to express themes of journey, loss and hope to arrest and provoke the observer, whilst her figurative work explores human emotion and relationships.

She has completed many site-specific art installations on a large scale, expressing a deep sense of craftsmanship and precision through an abstract narrative. She has designed for hospitals, Cathedrals, Livery Companies, and her textile art works have been collected by artists and the public across the UK.

Gael Emmett, is a designer, working in metal, making silver jewellery, and sculptural artworks from her barn studio in West Sussex. Her work reflects the simple rhythms and shapes found in nature and is inspired by the local land and seascapes. The simplicity of Scandinavian design and also the Arts and Crafts movement and their interpretation of nature in design are influences on her work. Her sculptural pieces are an extension of her jewellery designs and reflect her interest in metal and working with it in many forms and scales. Gael tries to focus on using recycled materials in her artworks where possible.

Polly Duttons abstract realism paintings blend tangible landscapes with abstract forms, creating a visual dialogue between reality and imagination. Inspired by nature, her en plein air sketches lay the groundwork for studio pieces that merge realism with abstract textures, emphasising the interplay between the seen and unseen. Pollys spontaneous creative process involves mixed mediaoil, acrylics, inks, collage building organic layers that add texture and depth. Her vibrant, nuanced palette evokes natural moods, balancing chaos with harmony to reflect natures dynamic order.
Each piece invites viewers into a personal, interpretive journey, fostering an immersive connection. Pollys work, rooted in nature and enriched by abstract techniques, offers a contemplative space that celebrates the fusion of representation and abstraction.

Wendy Farley's work is a response to the visual and sensual elements of nature through exploration of form and the interplay of textured mark making and moments of stillness. Her work invites a dialogue between movement and quietude, seeking to evoke a deeper understanding of spatial and emotional balance.
Wendy's work is either thrown and altered or hand built using coils and then smoke fired or fired several times in an electric kiln. Both approaches balance intentionality with the unpredictability of material transformation.
Wendy has exhibited and been represented by galleries across the UK.
