Our Summer Exhibition: Richard Cobden: Sussex Free Trade Campaigner
This exhibition looks at the life of the radical politician, manufacturer and campaigner for free trade, born locally near Heyshott.
He was most renowned for establishing the Anti-Corn Law League which achieved its goal in 1846, therefore this year we celebrate the 180th anniversary of the abolition of these massively unpopular tariffs. Something which echoes with our current global state of affairs.
