Canadas exceptional and nearly forgotten fighter leader: Wing Commander Lloyd V. Chadburn, DSO & Bar, DFC.
Wing Commander Lloyd Chadburn was Canadas highest decorated fighter pilot and certainly one of the most beloved. His brilliant command of 416 Squadron RCAF over Dieppe in 1942 set the stage for his leadership of the Canadian Digby Wing in 1943 and 127 Wing over D-Day. His tragic death over the Normandy beachhead affected everyone that knew him overseas, and at home. Presented by Major (retired) Robert Forbes, CD, who served over 22 years in both the Canadian Army and Air Force Reserves, this talk will shed light on Chadburns extraordinary life and explore the daring missions of Spitfire units across the English Channel between the Battle of Britain and the invasion of Normandy.
