Dorset Button Workshop

Organised by : The Resourceful Community Scrapstore
Join us to learn about the techniques for making Dorset Buttons and create a beautiful example that you can wear as a brooch or attach to a bag etc.
As the name suggests, this style of button making originated in Dorset and was widely used until the middle of the 19th Century when machine made buttons took over.
Using thread, needles and rings and the same basic techniques you can make a range of different patterns. You can of course still use them as buttons, but we'll be making a decorative flower posy design that works perfectly as a brooch or a decoration for a bag or other accessory - you could even make it into a keyring or pendant.
We'll provide all the resources and tools you need and we'll give you hot drinks and biscuits to sustain you while you craft.
£15 for non-members and £12.50 for members (you'll need your membership number to book the reduced rate.)
This event is aimed at adults and older children (12+)
Booking is essential for this workshop
