Marcelle Hanselaar: Graphic Scenes
Gallery Talk
Marcelle Hanselaar will be in conversation with Elenor Ling on Saturday 9th May at midday
This survey show celebrates over 25 years of printmaking. Bringing together a wide range of works, the exhibition offers a rich insight into the artists distinctive graphic language. Installed across the gallery in a series of interrelated groupings, the works create an immersive environment that heightens emotional intensity, drawing viewers into a space that is at once compelling, unsettling, and deeply evocative.
Hanselaars printmaking practice is shaped by a lineage of influential artists, including Max Beckmann, Louise Bourgeois, Otto Dix, Francisco Goya, William Kentridge, Pablo Picasso and Felicien Rops. Selected works by each of these figures are included within the exhibition.
Hanselaar has exhibited extensively at leading venues, including- currently- Dulwich Picture Gallery, as well as internationally. Her work is represented in major public collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the British Museum, Pallant House Gallery, the V&A, the Ashmolean Museum, and the Fitzwilliam Museum.
