Jane McGregor - Where the Planets Meet the Downs

Organised by : Oxmarket Contemporary

Oxmarket is excited to welcome Jane McGregor to our Wilson Gallery. Jane is a contemporary artist working in acrylic and mixed media, creating vibrant, imaginative works inspired by the cosmos, planets and the mysteries of the universe.

Marking her 60th birthday in 2026, Jane describes this new chapter in her artistic journey as a voyage into the unknown embracing experimentation, new techniques and the excitement of working beyond her comfort zone. Her work combines colour, symbolism and cosmic imagery, reflecting her fascination with space and the world around her.

A particular inspiration for Jane in 2026 has been Gustav Holsts The Planets and his connection to Chichester, where he is laid to rest in the Cathedral. Holsts planets have become creative companions, influencing the colours, symbolism and stories within her work.

Janes artistic journey is intertwined with a lifelong fascination with Star Trek, space exploration and the spirit of discovery. Her 2026 exhibition celebrates both her 60th birthday and a new creative voyage one that invites viewers to explore unfamiliar galaxies through her art.
