Music of Benares: Workshop with the Mishra Trio
The University is delighted to welcome Pt. Shivnath Mishra, known in India as a 'Living Legend Personality of the Sitar' and his two sons Deobrat and Prashant to present an interactive performance and talk on Hindustani music. The characteristic of the music of Benares Gharana is the highly ornamental, emotional and expressive singing of 'Thumri', and this family performance is bound to be an unforgettable and mesmerizing experience.
With support from Arts Council England in collaboration with the University of Sussex and other partners. Admission is free, no need to book.
