About the Speakers
With kids away and now 60-ish, David and Helen have their own lives to live. This they do partly at least travelling around interesting parts of the world by tandem, with adjustments made to work commitments (Helens a GP, David a builder) to ensure some adventures of a few months at a time.
For a great video portrait of the couples life of cycling adventures as well as their escape from the Russian invasion of Georgia in 2008 watch this BBC South Today segment from 2004.

Chosen charity
Talks At Six doesn't charge an admission fee but does encourage a £5 donation which goes in its entirety to the charity selected by the speakers. Helen and David have chosen Midhurst Youth Trust which empowers local young people through a safe space youth club with events and great facilities and supports a camp ground at Stedham that enables youngsters a base for Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions and other outdoor activities.
