Kingley Vale - The road to the interior
3 - 8 November
Observations from nature on life and relationships. An exhibition of drawings, prose, paintings inspired by her residency at Kingley Vale.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.
– Albert Einstein
During her residency at Kingley Vale in 2015 the artist questions how drawing and drawing strategies help to engage with nature to better understand and express herself, her relationship to the forest and others. The forest becomes a mirror for an interior world and through drawing, insights on life are uncovered and expressed. The artist uses sensory walking and drawing to encounter nature, she creates maps to get lost and found, combines text with image, consistently draws to find a space in which to be at peace in the forest. The exhibition includes research sketchbooks, documents and drawings; 'Postcards from the Forest' a series inspired by Japanese Senryu of drawings and prose. The artist invites others to take part, to follow drawing strategies in workshops, June and July. Artwork from schools and the community is included in the show. The project is supported by Natural England and Oxmarket Gallery. Talks and creative sessions will take place during the show.
