Twin Spin Week
LEARN TO SPIN WOOL IN TWINSPIN WEEK
MONDAY 19 OCTOBER TO FRIDAY 23 OCTOBER 2015
11.00am - 4.00pm
The Museum is joining The Campaign for Wool (Patron: HRH The Prince of Wales) and the Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers to encourage a new generation to become hand spinners.
We are hosting TwinSpin – free hand spinning sessions for our visitors – from Monday 19th until Friday 23rd October. Pre-booking of these free sessions is essential – read on for the full details.
What is TwinSpin?
TwinSpin aims to create a new generation of hand spinners, which will preserve one of the wool industry's original skills. It matches new spinners with 'twins' who are experienced spinners.
If you'd like to try spinning by hand, you can learn to spin fleece into yarn, under the tuition of an experienced spinner.
Who can get involved?
Anybody can try spinning! Perhaps you are a textile student, knitter, crafter? Or perhaps you are simply interested and enthusiastic? Come along and try this wonderful skill.
How to book
Spinning sessions are free to Museum visitors (regular Museum admission prices apply) but pre-booking is essential to secure your place. Please contact the Museum's Adult Learning team on 01243 811464 or email courses@wealddown.co.uk to enquire.
Unique offer
There will be a unique offer for attendees of these free spinning sessions; a half-price 2-day course for aspiring spinners held at the Museum with a top spinning instructor. Participants will be given details of the course after their free session.
