Wonderful Weeks
Organised by : Weald and Downland Living Museum
Back for the school holidays are Weald & Downland Living Museum's popular Wonderful Weeks! Offering families an enjoyable and captivating day out in the great outdoors, the theme this year is traditional games and pastimes. Each week features a different programme of activities and crafts which change daily, including nature trails, orienteering, singing and puzzles.
Week 1 Natural World Games (Monday 1 to Sunday 7 August 2022)
Example activities: shadow puppets, nature trail, orienteering, craft boats and fern-pattern pottery.
Week 2 Hobbies & Pastimes (Monday 8 to Sunday 14 August 2022)
Example activities: Shove hapenny, postage stamp craft, make a finger puppet, sing a song, create a pressed flower card.
Week 3 Team or Group Games (Monday 15 to Sunday 21 August 2022)
Example activities: Song or chant rounds, tag, capture the flag, bowling and quoits, team puzzle.
Week 4: Personal Challenges (Monday 22 to Wednesday 31 August 2022)
Example activities: Hoop and stick, egg & spoon distance challenge, memory game, hop scotch, and an obstacle challenge.
Families can also enjoy exploring the beautiful grounds, seeing traditional farm animals and discovering the many historic buildings such as the working watermill, bakehouse and Victorian school to find out what life was like in the past.
