Workshop | Fabric and Form: Textile Art
Organised by : Pallant House Gallery
Create a unique textile artwork inspired by Rana Begums stairwell installation using hand-stitching and fabric manipulation techniques, led by textile artist Helen Peters.
Explore the interplay of form, colour, and light in this hands-on textile workshop led by textile artist Helen Peters. Inspired by Rana Begums stairwell installation, No. 1367 Mesh, youll have the chance to create a series of small textile pieces using translucent fabrics and a variety of techniques, including hand-stitching to layer and gather, and 3D shibori, a fabric manipulation technique using steam.
During the session, youll learn how to manipulate fabric to build texture and visual interest, then join your individual pieces together to create your own unique textile response.
Participants will have the opportunity to visit Rana Begums stairwell installation for inspiration. By the end of the workshop, youll take home a striking, one-of-a-kind textile artwork, enriched with beads, buttons, and your own creative touch.
