Free Midhurst Music and Movies on the Square event is a success
The Market Square in Midhurst was packed with film lovers of all ages thanks to a free community event which took place at the weekend (Saturday 26 September).
Midhurst Music and Movies on the Square was organised by Chichester District Council in collaboration with Midhurst Jazz, Food & Blues Festival, Midhurst Town Council and Midhurst Town Trust.
During the day musicians from the local community staged a range of performances, with people encouraged to get involved using a range of musical instruments that were made available. Younger members of the crowd could also enjoy face painting and art and craft activities.
In the afternoon, families were able to enjoy a screening of the Disney Pixar film Co Co while the modern musical La La Land was the billing for the early evening.
Councillor Harsha Desai, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Communications, Licensing and Events, says: This was such a lovely event to have in Market Square, and it was great to be able to bring some more big screen magic to this wonderful space in Midhurst.
We have received some really lovely feedback from those who came along and personally it was wonderful to see little ones getting involved in the music and getting creative the event had a real feel-good atmosphere, and we were also blessed with good weather which was a bonus!
We were delighted to work with the festival as well as the town council and town trust to make the event happen. Huge thanks to everyone who helped and supported us along the way.
The event is part of our wider Events Strategy which focuses on bringing a wider range of events to the district for different age groups and audiences in order to support our local businesses and the evening and night-time economy.
The event was made possible using UK Government funding which was secured by Chichester District Council.
