Goodwood Junior Driving Experiences: Where the Next Generation of Drivers Begins

Learning to drive is a milestone every young person remembers. Now, that first experience can begin somewhere a little more extraordinary than the average residential road.

Goodwood Motor Circuit has introduced its new Junior Driving Experiences, giving young drivers the chance to get behind the wheel in a safe, controlled environment, with expert one-to-one tuition at one of the most iconic motoring destinations in the country.

There are two experiences to choose from, each offering a different introduction to driving.

Track & Skid Pan

Available to young drivers aged 12 and over, the Track & Skid Pan experience puts participants behind the wheel of a modern BMW 230i with their own experienced instructor.

The session begins on the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit, where young drivers learn the fundamentals of vehicle control, including steering, braking, observation and positioning. Once confidant they can then move on to the low-grip skid pan, learning how a car behaves when grip is reduced and how to respond with calm, controlled inputs.

The experience also includes time in Goodwood's professional race simulators, giving participants another opportunity to develop their reactions and awareness away from the track.

Off-Road Adventure

For those aged 14 and over who want to learn the fundamentals of manual driving, the Off-Road Adventure offers something rather different.

Participants take the wheel of a classic Series IIA Land Rover on the tarmac Circuit, learning clutch control, gear changes and vehicle handling. Once confident they can put those skills to the test across Goodwood's dedicated Off-Road activity arena.

From grass and gravel to slalom courses and off-road terrain, the experience introduces young drivers to a variety of surfaces while developing their confidence and control. It is also a chance to experience one of Britain's most recognisable vehicles in an entirely different way.

Both experiences are delivered with one-to-one instruction, meaning each session can be tailored to the individual driver's ability and confidence, missions are incorporated as a guide and are able to tick off at the individuals own pace.

More than a first drive

The Junior Driving Experiences have been designed as more than a one-off chance to get behind the wheel. Participants receive a personal driving logbook, allowing them to record their progress and continue developing their skills on future visits.

Whether learning to control a BMW on the circuit or mastering a clutch in a classic Land Rover, the emphasis is on building confidence, developing practical driving skills and creating an early appreciation for being behind the wheel.

For Goodwood, it is a natural extension of the Motor Circuit's history. Since 1948, the circuit has been a place where some of the world's greatest drivers have developed their skills. The new Junior Driving Experiences offer the next generation the opportunity to begin their own driving journey there.

Junior Driving Experiences are available from £199 per person, with gift vouchers also available. The first experience dates are taking place in November 2026, making them an unusual gift idea for birthdays, Christmas or simply for a young motoring enthusiast looking to experience life behind the wheel.
