Experience the magic of live theatre beneath the open sky this summer as the Weald & Downland Living Museum welcomes two of the UK's leading outdoor theatre companies for a spectacular season of performances in its beautiful historic setting.

There's no better way to spend a summer's evening than surrounded by centuries-old buildings, the stunning South Downs landscape and world-class live entertainment.
The Museum is delighted to welcome back the award-winning Illyria, one of Britain's foremost outdoor theatre companies. For more than 30 years, Illyria has delighted audiences with imaginative productions, introducing new genres that have become much-loved staples of open-air theatre. Having entertained more than a million people across the UK, the company continues to bring exceptional performances to audiences of all ages.
"Full of humour on a pleasant summer's evening."
The Museum also welcomes back the ever-popular Three Inch Fools, whose fast-paced, music-filled productions have become a favourite with audiences nationwide. Touring with a cast of actor-musicians, they combine inventive storytelling, original music and plenty of laughter to create unforgettable evenings of entertainment—come rain or shine.
 "The ultimate British theatrical experience."

This year's open-air theatre programme includes:

  • As You Like It  Tuesday 14 July
  • The Three Musketeers  Wednesday 22 July
  • The Pirates of Penzance  Tuesday 28 July
  • Pinocchio  Tuesday 4 August

The open-air theatre programme combines the timeless appeal of live performance with the Museum's unique historic landscape, creating evenings that celebrate both heritage and community.

As the sun begins to set over our historic buildings, the atmosphere becomes something really special. Whether you're a theatre lover or simply looking for a wonderful evening out with family and friends, there's something magical about enjoying live performance in the heart of the Museum."
