Have you noticed how noisy life has become?
Notifications. To-do lists. Worry. News. More doing, less being.
Sometimes the most radical thing we can do is sit beneath a tree, take one conscious breath and remember that we're already part of something much bigger than our busy minds.
I'm Joanne Farley-Webb, artist and founder of The Peaceful Paintbrush art studio in Chichester, West Sussex. I created this free community meditation because I wanted to offer something simple - a place where we can gather in nature, put our phones away for a while, and remember what it feels like to be fully alive.
This isn't about becoming a "perfect meditator." It's not about emptying your mind or escaping your life.
It's about learning to befriend yourself.
We'll sit together beneath the open sky, practise gentle 'eyes open' mindfulness meditation, sometimes walk slowly through the park, listen to the birds, notice the changing seasons and, every now and then, laugh at the wonderfully strange experience of being human.
You don't need to know anything about meditation. You don't need the right clothes, the right cushion or the right spiritual vocabulary.
- Just bring yourself.
- Meditation isn't about becoming someone else.
- It's about coming home to the person you've been all along.
Whether you're carrying grief, stress, joy, uncertainty or simply curiosity, you'll find a place here.
Bring a blanket or something comfortable to sit on, dress for the weather, and meet us in the beauty of Priory Park.
- We'll breathe.
- We'll be still.
- We'll remember that peace isn't somewhere else.
- It's something we practise together.
- Everyone is welcome.
These community meditations are offered freely. If you'd like to support the continuation of these sessions, donations are warmly appreciated but never expected.
