Robert Redford Talk: The Sundance Kid behind and in front of the camera

Robert Redford, who died last year, was an extraordinary presence on the big screen for decades, much loved for his acting skills, his choice of films and, lets face it, his looks.

But the greater part of his legacy could be for his work behind the camera, as a director but also as a facilitator of independent filmmakers with his Sundance Institute, and other initiatives bearing the Sundance name.

In this talk, Sandy Guthrie, of the Cinema Education Team, will run through Redfords impressive career on screen while also considering the mark he has left on the film industry.

Such films as The Way We Were and The Great Gatsby sit alongside Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid and The Sting, while overtly political movies of the calibre of Three Days of the Condor and All the Presidents Men might contrast with Out of Africa or The Old Man & the Gun.
