Inkle Loom Weaving
10am-4pm
THE COURSE
Spend a weekend in a small group learning about this ancient weaving technique. You will have the opportunity to make short lengths of braid (to make into a purse or small bag) and see examples of different designs.
THE TUTOR
Steve Kennett is a regular demonstrator and volunteer at the museum, where he is also involved in researching Tudor knitted hose and spinning wool for the Interpretation team. He learned to spin some thirty years ago, taught by Dorothy Wilmshurst who had studied with Ethel Mairet at Ditchling in the 1930's. Besides his work as a spinner he leads workshops on inkle weaving as well. Recently Steve wrote and led an Inkle workshop delivered by email for the Online Guild which was followed by participants from many parts of the world. Steve is Vice Chairman of the Association of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, and is a member of the Wealden and the Online Guilds.

There is a maximum of 6 participants on this workshop. Please bring your inkle loom, if you do not have one please let us know.
FEE
£95 per person to include tuition, teas and coffees.
The Museum café will be open or you may like to bring a packed lunch.
