Nature Discovery / Bird-Watching boat trip on Solar Heritage
Organised by : Chichester Harbour National Landscape
Chichester Harbour is nationally and internationally important as a site for coastal birds and a migration hub with tens of thousands of birds arriving in the Autumn to settle for the winter. Our nature cruises on our solar-powered boat offer the perfect way to discover the hidden delights of the harbour and unique coastal habitats it has to offer.
Join us for this special trip, timed to coincide with a rising tide, which is planned to give views of large flocks of shorebirds such as curlews, godwits, plovers, oystercatchers and dunlin as they settle down on higher shingle banks and islands to wait out the high tide. These incoming tides also bring fish into the harbour so this can be a good time to see swimming and diving fish-eaters such as divers, grebes and cormorants. Keep an eye on the sky for potential whirling flocks above as the tide comes in and birds take to the air.
