Priory Park - A Pearl of a Park in Chichester
Priory Park is a true gem nestled in the heart of Chichester city centre. Dating back to Roman times, the park has long been a gathering place for the community. With a wealth of family-friendly facilities and events, it still holds an important place in Chichester's fabric. Now, for the first time ever in June, it is hosting a mini-festival to share its history and heritage.
Park Facilities/Events:
Fenwicks Café - Stop by for locally sourced, freshly prepared food, cakes and coffee. With indoor and outdoor seating, the gorgeous park views can be enjoyed whatever the weather.
Chichester Bowling Club Founded in 1881, Chichester Bowling club is the oldest and self-professed friendliest club in Sussex. They're a relaxed, inclusive bunch focused more on community than competition. Total beginners are welcome so why not give it a go at their regular taster sessions with free instruction. Taster dates coming up in June and July.
Childrens Play Area This outdoor wooden play area is perfect exploring territory for children of all ages. It is soon to be refurbished with even more rides and activities.
Junior Park Run Have a mini runner in the family? Junior park run is a free, fun, friendly weekly 2k run for 4-14 year olds held every Sunday at 9.00am. It is free to register and the aim is for everyone to have fun.
Chichester Priory Park Cricket Club Whether an experienced cricketer or dedicated fan, you'll find a warm welcome waiting at Chichester Priory Park Cricket Club. The thriving club runs seven senior teams, a womens league team and two mixed teams. They even offer a walking cricket option at the weekend and its junior section is fully inclusive.
The Guildhall The gorgeous Guildhall is one of the few remaining Franciscan Friaries in England. Its a prime example of 13th century architecture with its aisle-less structure, symmetrical windows and chancel arch, visible throughout the entire structure. Local poet and painter William Blakes infamous trial for sedition was held in front of the county court of Quarter Sessions at The Guildhall in 1804.
Priory Park Annual Events
Chichester Gala Set in the beautiful surroundings of Priory Park, the annual Gala is a celebration of community spirit, featuring live music, local performances and a traditional funfair.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of food and drink stalls, browse vintage and artisan markets inside the Guildhall, and explore a wide range of independent stalls across the park. Family-friendly attractions include magicians, circus acts, classic cars and the ever-popular crockery smash.
The Gala brings together a diverse mix of local community organisations, showcasing the people and groups that help make Chichester such a vibrant place.

Chichester International Film Festival The annual event returns to Priory Park 8-10 August, opening with a weekend of open air screenings. A mix of classic favourites and family entertainment are on offer in the beautiful outdoor setting. This year, the public voted for the weekend finale film feature with Bob Marley: One Love winning the prize place. Festivalgoers are invited to bring picnic blankets, chairs and their favourite treats for a relaxed summer cinema experience under the stars.

The Priory Park Society Mini Festival comes to Chichester this June, celebrating the rich history and community spirit of the citys much-loved village green.
Running from 813 June as part of the Festival of Chichester, the week-long programme features talks on the parks history, archaeology and sporting heritage, alongside guided walks, live music, a film screening, cricket and a bowls open day.
Hosted in and around Priory Park and the Guildhall, the festival offers visitors a chance to explore the past, present and future of one of Chichesters most treasured green spaces.
