Make Your Mark at Oxmarket Contemporary this January

What could you make from a scrap of old lace, a lump of clay or a photograph of a favourite view? This January, Oxmarket Contemporarys Make Your Mark workshops invite you to find out. The hands-on sessions are a chance to try something for the first time or explore a different technique if you already enjoy making art.

Try hand quilting or slow stitching with Penny Bicknell, learn to get more from your phone camera with Paul Vincent, or bring a photograph of a favourite place to Sue Englands landscape collage workshop. You could also make a ceramic fish dish with Fiona Minto, try gilding an initial with gold leaf in Jo Flatts workshop inspired by the Book of Kells, or see what happens when you turn familiar objects into an abstract still life with Lorraine Molins.

Three ways to wellbeing around the workshop table

Keep Learning. Theres a particular pleasure in finding out what a material can do. You might learn how to press a pattern into clay or discover a camera setting that changes the way you photograph a familiar street.

Take Notice. Drawing a shell, arranging scraps of fabric or looking closely at the colours in a landscape gives you a reason to slow down. Its a chance to spot details you might usually pass by.

Connect. Bring someone youve been meaning to catch up with, or come on your own and get chatting as you work. Seeing how someone else approaches the same task is part of the fun of making things together.

The workshops take place at Oxmarket Contemporary, St Andrews Court, off East Street, Chichester. Youll find individual sessions in the Chichester Living Whats On calendar, with dates, times and booking links.  See the full list
